Abstract
A diode-side-pumped fundamental mode Nd:YAG laser with unstable plane-concave resonator is theoretically simulated and experimentally demonstrated. The volume of fundamental mode is increased by this structure, and the fundamental mode spots at the rod changes slowly with thermal focus of the rod from threshold to whole pump. So the efficient mode match between the pump light and the oscillating light is obtained. The continuous wave output of 17.8W is achieved with M-x(2)=1.34 and M-y(2)=1.36. And the single pulse energy of 1.53 mJ and the peak power of 7.65 kW are obtained under the pump power of 160 W and the Q-switched repetition rate of 10 kHz.
