Modeling of suspension system for horizontal-axis washing machine

A general planar mechanical model for suspension systems has been presented with the consideration of dampers bottom-mounted, which has not been discussed previously in horizontal-axis washing machines. The dynamic equation of motion has been formulated by applying Lagrange's method, programmed for simulations in MATLAB. A case study showed that the predicted results show good agreement with the experimental data. Therefore, mechanical dynamic performance could be estimated for prototype design purpose by undertaking a parametric investigation to the end of optimizing the design of horizontal-axis washing machine suspension systems.
