Research on impact strength of discarded PWB under cryogenic condition

In order to solve the toughness and difficulty in comminution of discarded PCB, some trial researches are carried out on PCB's impact strength under cryogenic condition, and analysis is made of the variation of impact strength with temperature. This tests show that PCB's impact strength decreases with temperature declining, the impact strength value reaches the minimum in the vicinity of -30°C and at only about half of the normal temperature. Sharp decrease of impact strength is beneficial to the comminution whose impact is the main comminutional method of discarded PCB. From this result we can prove that cryogenic treatment has obvious effect on energy consumption in the comminution.
