Expression of adenylate kinases 2 in the brains of patients with refractory temporal epilepsy]

To study the protein expression of adenylate kinases (AK)-2 in the brain tissues of patients with drug-refractory temporal epilepsy and the clinical value thereof.Specimens of brain from 40 patients with refractory temporal epilepsy, and 20 sex- and age-matched persons with brain trauma. Immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence examination were used to test the levels of AK2.AK2 was expressed in the temporal lobes and hippocampuses of all epileptics, mainly in the cell bodies, and not in the brain tissues of the controls.The overexpression of AK2 may be involved in the pathogenesis of drug-refractory epilepsy and become an important symbol thereof.
