Abstract
This paper analyzes the joint effect of PN code synchronization and BER(Bit Error Rate) on transmission ranges for DS/CDMA(Direct Spread Code Division Multiple Accesses) MANET(Mobile Ad-hoc Networks). We obtain the optimum transmission ranges to maximize throughput for a DS/CDMA MANET by taking into account the PN code acquisition. Our aim is to optimally set the number of interferers I and the PN code acquisition threshold VTh. The results obtained show that the probability of PN synchronization decreases the expected forward progress per slot compared with previous results and that the optimum probability of each terminal transmitting a packet is different from previous results. The results obtained can be used as heuristics to set the parameter in MANET. © 2008 IEEE.
