摘要
• Aim: To take fundus examination in neonates and observe the regular changes of fundus with age, and screen the common fundus diseases in neonates. • Methods: Fundus examination with indirect ophthalmoscope was performed in 1069 neonates. • Results: 1) The fundi of neonates changed with age regularly; 2) Persistent hyaloid artery was found in 37 cases (3.46%); persistent hyperplasia of primary vitreous in 8 cases (7.48%); optic disc edema in 25 cases (2.34%); optic atrophy in 14 cases (1.31%); retinopathy of prematurity in 33 cases (3.09%); retinal hemorrhage in 97 cases (9.07%). • Conclusion: 1) The fundi of neonates show some characteristics compared to growing infants or adults, and change with age regularly; 2) Optic disc edema in neonates often suggests intracranial hypertension; 3) Optic atrophy should be diagnosed cautiously in neonates and changing conditions must be followed up. 4) Hemorrhage in peripheral retina in neonates often suggests retinopathy of prematurity; 5) Early fundus screening plays a positive role in discovering fundus disease and early treatment.
