Abstract
The aim of this study is to explore the effects of 125-I interstitial brachytherapy CT-guided percutaneous paracentesis on the clinical value, peripheral blood cells, liver function, renal functions, T cells subgroups and the activity of natural killer cells (NK). Method: 53 patients with lung cancer underwent brachytherapy with implantation of I-125 seeds under an optical navigation system. After the procedure, the size of the tumor in all patients was checked and compared to the changes of blood biochemistry. Results: 51 of the 53 patients were observed for more than six months. Twelve of the patients were implanted again. Patients had sixty-two foci and eighty-one punctures. The effective rate of recovery (CR+PR) after one month was 33.87% (21/62); after two, three, and six months was 51.61 % (32/62); 91.94% (57/62) and 95.16% (59/62), respectively. There were no statistically significant differences at peripheral blood cells, liver function, renal function, T cells subgroups, and the activity of natural killer cells (NK). Pneumothorax and hemoptysis were seen in (6.17%, 5/81), (11.11%, 9/81) respectively of the patients. Brachytherapy by CT-guided percutaneous paracentesis implantation of I-125 seed for lung cancer is a quite effective and safe method. The complications are few and easy to manage.
