Abstract
Venturi scrubber is one of the important components of WX/4u wet desulfurization equipment, which is developed independently for large-scale and medium-sized boiler by Tianjin University. It is important to understand the process of mass transfer from the flue gas into the scrubbing liquid for the optimization of design and industrial operation. A homogeneous mass transfer reaction model was proposed to describe the adsorption rate of SO2 accompanied by second-order chemical reaction from the flue gas into alkaline solution. The eddy diffusivity of gas in axial direction and the relative velocity between gas and droplets were considered. With this model the effect of various operational parameters such as gas pollutant concentration, flue gas flow rate, alkaline solution concentration, liquid-gas-ration, and the length of throat was discussed. The removal efficiencies predicted by the present model were compared with that of experiment and an excellent agreement was found. This is an abstract of a paper presented at the 231st ACS National Meeting (Atlanta, GA 3/26-30/2006).
