Collaborative assembly design technology based on semantics in grid

Through analyzing the statuses of collaborative CAD technology, collaborative assembly (CA) design technology based on semantics in grid is promoted in point of the characters of large assembly. Using feature semantics, product data exchange and part modification of large assembly are implemented. Assembly semantics is the abstract and generalization of assembly constraints among parts. Research on product design based on semantics can prominently enhance the straight forwardness and efficiency of assembly design. Meanwhile, Grid computing technology enables a collection of grid computers to gain super computation power, so it can fast carry out manipulation and modification of large assembly. In this paper we present a novel CA system supporting heterogeneous CAD - GridCA, which is integrated with semantics and grid computing technology. A case study is further given to illustrate the effectiveness of the system.
