Fractal-based image target detection

Generally, the image of ordnance target detection consists of nature background and a little artificial target. Most of the methods of image target detection now available are algorithms of analyzing the peculiarity of target itself, and do not apply in the ordnance target detection under the circumstances that the peculiarity of target is uncertain. A method of detecting artificial targets edges in natural background is presented. According to the intrinsic difference in fractal features between natural background and artificial objects, the method gets the edge feature of artificial target using fractal dimension and wavelet analysis. The effect of detection method is applicable by the results of experiments.
