A two-stage approach to fingerprint classification

With the fingerprint classification method (PDSLC) based on the pseudo-directional diagram and singular points location posed on this thesis, the fingerprints can be classified into five categories: whorl, right loop, left loop, arch, and tented arch using the information of fingerprint ridge and singular points location in the fingerprint image. This PDSLC method combines and improves the methods on the fingerprint directional diagram and on the singular points location. So this method can give a high classification accuracy, low computing complexity and process the fingerprint image with the only upside part.
