Sorption and desorption behavior of chlorinated phenol to a loess soil, is discussed. The sorption-desorption can be rate limiting to biodegradation, bioavailability, and subsurface transport of contaminants. The influence of physiochemical parameters, such as the compound concentration, pH, and divalent metal cations was also investigated. It was observed that retention of 2,4-dichlorophenol increased with the decrease of the pH values.
