Preparation of (BiAl)DyIG garnet magneto-optical recording films by sol-gel method

In this work (BiAl)DyIG films with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy were prepared on glass substrates by citric acid complex type sol-gel method. The structure and magneto-optical properties were investigated. The Kerr hysteresis loops exhibit good square shape. The figures of merit were 2° and 1.5° at wavelengths of 430 nm and 520 nm respectively. The best crystallization temperature was 675°C.
