A new method for determination of molecular weight of macromonomer containing methylacryloyloxy end group

A ultraviolet spectrophotometric method for determination of molecular weight of macromonomer containing methylacryloyloxy end group was established, λ max was located at 213nm, 95% alcohol: THF (volume rate 7:3) was used as the solvent and the molecular extinction coefficient of methylacryloyloxy end group was 6510L·mol -1·cm -1. A series of macromonomer containing methylacryloyloxy end group (MA-PTHF-OH) was determined by two methods,the UV spectrophotometric method and the titration method. The relative error was less than ± 5% between these two methods. The results of the two methods were also contrasted by statistical test. There was no significant difference between them. This method gives a convenient way for characterization of macromonomer containing methylacryloyloxy end group.
