Numerical simulation of mixing layer flow evolution

The evolution of mixing layer flow and the effect of the shearing rate on it were numerically simulated by the discrete method in which the diffusion velocity method was used to deal with the viscous diffusion. The results indicate that the thickness of the mixing-layer grows linearly with the streamwise distance. The amalgamation between the large-scale vortex structures is the primary factor of the growth of the thickness of the mixing layer. The thickness of the mixing layer and its growing rate with the streamwise distance grow with the growth of the shearing rate.
