Abstract
From December 1975 to December 1995, 354 cases of hypospadiac repair were evaluated to summarize our successful experiences. Fifty-one cases were operated between 1975 and 1984 where their neomeatus, which were reconstructed to be opened pericoronally, were all drained by both superpubic and transurethral catheterizations. Between 1985 and 1995, 279 cases were treated with one-staged pedicle flap reconstructive procedures with apical meatus that were modified by our department. The improvements made in our modified procedures included: a placement of transperineal urethrostomy and neourethral stent; performing a dorsal-to-ventral dissection during chordee correction; locating the meatoplasty properly by a glanular punch device; using an arc pedicle penoscrotal skin flap and L-shaped scrotal flap during the urethroplasty for severe cases; and using a full-length uretharl burying technique during retrievoplasty. Our success rate of repair rose from 76.4% to 98.2% (p < 0.01) in the last 20 years. It is concluded that our modified techniques are effective and can be offered as an alternative procedure.
