Abstract
2,3-Dihydro-2-phenyl-4-(4-methoxyphenyl)-1,5-benzothiazepine reacts with ethoxycarbonyl carbene to give an unexpected compound 2,3-disubstituted-4H-1,4-benzothiazine III. It was found to be a new rearrangement reaction and the structure of the product was confirmed by IR, NMR, MS.
