Surface magneto-optical Kerr effect system for studying magnetic properties of thin film

A new system was proposed for studying the magnetic properties of thin film by surface magneto-optical Kerr effect with a He-Ne laser as light source. The errors of Kerr signal, due to the intensity instability and random polarization of the laser, can be considerably reduced by controlling the ratio of the signal beam intensity to the reference beam intensity.
