Adsorption and interaction of CO and NO on Rh/Al2O3

Adsorption and interaction of CO and NO on Rh/Al2O3 have been investigated by TP-IR dynamic method. The results obtained indicate that adsorption of CO is stronger than that of NO on gem-dicarbonyl site and adsorption of NO is stronger than that of CO on linear and bridged site over Rh/Al2O3. The results of dynamic process of coadsorption of CO and NO-TP (in CO and NO) reveal that the appearance of band at 2 224 cm-1 and decrease in intensity of gem-dicarbonyl CO bands and bands of adsorbed NO simultaneously occur, indicating that interaction between gem-dicarbonyl CO and NO adsorbed is necessary for Rh-NCO production.
