Lumped - Parameter model to simulate afterload of systemic circulation

A new lumped parameter model (with three windkessels and nine elements) was proposed to simulate the afterload of the systemic circulation. The results of the input impedance of the ascending aorta was in good agreement with the physiological data. This model had the advantage of simple structure, convenient adjustment, and definite physiological meaning for each element, and the values of the parameters fell into reasonable physiological range. The influences of the parameters in this model on the input impedance of the ascending aorta were also discussed. The model might be used as a proper afterload in the simulation of the cardiovascular system. | Using this model, the results of the input impedance of the ascending aorta was in good agreement with the physiological data.
