Abstract
The LiNbO3 based acoustooptic tunable filter (AOTF) is an attractive device in the future WDM networks owing to its broad wavelength tunability, fast tuning, low insertion-loss, and low driving power, especially to its capability of multiwavelength filtering. In this paper, the working principle and characteristics of this kind of AOTF was introduced, and its several typical applications in WDM networks were discussed.
