Preparation and ultraviolet–visible ray transmission property of nanocrystalline InPO 4

(NH 4 ) 2 In(OH) 2 PO 4 was synthesized by solid-state reaction at low heating temperatures using InCl 3 ·H 2 O and (NH 4 ) 3 PO 4 ·3H 2 O as raw materials. The orthorhombic nanocrystalline InPO 4 was obtained via calcining (NH 4 ) 2 In(OH) 2 PO 4 in air. The (NH 4 ) 2 In(OH) 2 PO 4 and its calcined products were characterized by thermogravimetry and differential scanning calorimetry, fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray powder diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and ultraviolet–visible spectroscopy (UV–Vis). The result showed that orthorhombic nanocrystalline InPO 4 with space group Cmcm (63) was obtained when the product was calcined above 600 °C for 3 h. The (NH 4 ) 2 In(OH) 2 PO 4 and its calcined products behaved with excellent UV–Vis ray transmission ability.
