Research on the characteristics of wake field for a ship advancing in regular head short waves

Some research work on the characteristics of wake field for KCS model advancing in regular head short waves was carried out by RANSE based numerical wave tank technology. Wake field for the ship model in calm water was computed and compared with the experimental data to validate the numerical method. Numerical computations of wake field for KCS model advancing in regular head waves were carried out. The effect of wave on the wake field was analyzed. The results show that the time-averaged wake fraction will decrease in general while the wave length becomes longer; the mechanism of this law was analyzed. Finally, the concept of transfer function of time-averaged wake fraction variation in regular waves was put forward.
