•Omethoate exposure caused oxidative stress in rats exposed to omethoate.•TNF-α and IL-6 levels were increased in skeletal muscles of omethoate exposed rats.•JNK and p38MAPK were activated in the skeletal muscles of omethoate exposed rats.•NF-κB was also activated in the skeletal muscles of omethoate exposed rats.
