Abstract
A new method, measuring the concentration and size distribution of indoor inhalable particulate matter, is researched in this paper. The method adopts the mathematical morphology to process the image of indoor inhalable particulate matters, and recognize the morphological parameters such as particulate matter size, fractal dimension, shape coefficients and so on. By microscopic observation, it is also approximately classifies the particulate matter into several standard types. Adopting the shape coefficient and the fractal dimension as observational data of each type, a discriminant analysis classified method of particles has been put forward which can estimate the shape, volume and surface area. By analyzing the sources of particles and estimating the density of particles, the mass concentration, total surface area and volume concentration and particle size distribution of indoor inhalable particulate matters can be obtained at the same time. © Research India Publications.
