Image mosaic coupled detection of grinding wheel topographies
International Journal of Abrasive Technology(2013)
Abstract
The present study was undertaken to resolve the contradiction between visual field and resolution while detecting the topographies of a grinding wheel. An image mosaic method was combined with the traditional computer vision detection. Based on three main procedures of the mosaic method, the topographies of a brazed grinding wheel were accurately and effectively reconstructed. The reconstructed topographies of the wheel were found to be able to reflect the changes in the wear of the grinding wheel before and after grinding. The protrusion height of the diamond grains, obtained from the wheel topographies, can provide useful information for the quantitative evaluation of the performance of the diamond wheel in grinding.
