Prediction and analysis of the driving range of electric bus

In this paper, a method used to predict the driving range of electric bus based on electrochemical model of lithium ion battery was presented. Using a electric bus powered by lithium ion battery as an example, the driving ranges under three different driving cycles including American UDDS, European EUDC and Japanese 1015 were respectively predicted by the proposed method, and the effects of the temperature of battery pack and the number of battery module on the lowest state of charge SOCL required by the bus to travel a given distance were also analyzed. © (2013) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.
