Abstract
In component-based software development, academics are still trying to overcome the challenge of establishing a stopping rule of discontinuity of testing and declaring that the component is ready for reuse. It becomes an open issue in Optimal Testing Resource Allocation Problems (OTRAPs). In this paper, a stoptest rule mandating an extension of the component testability and the marginal test utility were proposed for effectively solving OTRAPs. Based on the rule, an optimization framework was further presented to assist decision-makers in determining optimal number of tests with maximized reliability while satisfying total testing resource constraint. © 2012 WIT Press.
