Abstract
To study the pile-oil effect on seismic response of 16 x 104 m3 full capacity LNG tanks, based on ADINA, finite element model was established. 3D solid element was used for outer tank, shell element was used for inner tank , potential flow element was used for fluid , and spring damper element was used for pile-soil and isolation , 0. 34g El Centro ground motion was adopted to analyze seismic response by using time history method. The results were compared with the theory solution. It is shown that; base isolation seismic response damping effect is obvious. For reducing seismic response , i nner tank is superior to outer tank. In finite element solution and theoretic solution base shear and base moment are nearly the same. From actual conditions , the finite element solution is feasible.
