Abstract
In this article, we present an integrated approach of event tree analysis and fault tree analysis to design fire risk assessment index system for large public buildings in China. Our work includes several processes as follow: 1. Analyze 84 catastrophic fires which happened in large public buildings during the year from 1997 to 2005 by integrated approach of event tree analysis and fault tree analysis. 2. Overlap all the 84 suits of the fault trees to an integrated fault tree. 3. Design the fire risk assessment index and identify the basic events in the overlapping of FTA which affect to sub-indexes. 4. Compute the weights of indexes according to the statistics information and the frame information of basic events. © 2013 Taylor & Francis Group.
