Abstract
•We observed the seldom reported NIR emissions in Pr3+ doped chalcohalide glasses.•The NIR emissions are much enhanced with the addition of GeO2.•Raman spectra are used to characterize structural evolutions induced by GeO2.•The raised phonon-energy induced by GeO2 is the cause for the PL enhancement.
