Synthesis, structure and magnetic property of a new 1D ladder-like copper (II) coordination polymer constructed from phenyliminodiacetate and 4,4'-bipyridyl

Abstract
A new 1D ladder-like coordination ploymer of {[Cu2L2(H2O)(4,4'-bpy)]·DMF·3H2O}n(1) was synthesized with Cu(ClO4)2, H2L (phenyliminodiacetic acid, C6H5N(CH2COOH)2) and 4,4'-bpy (4,4'-bipyridyl) by slow evaporation at room temperature. The composition and structure of complex 1 were characterized by elemental analysis, infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis and X-ray crystallography. The result of single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis reveals that 1 crystallizes in the triclinic crystal system with P1̄ space group, a=0.873 65(16) nm, 6=0.991 32(18) nm, c=2.179 6(4) nm, α=100.848(3)°, β100.694(3)°, γ=91.023(3)°, 7=1.819 0(6) nm3, Z=2, Dc=1.539 g-cm3, F(000)=872, R1=0.065 6, wR2=0.184 8 {I>2δ(I)). In complex 1, the interconnection of Cu(II) ions by chelating and bridging of L2̄ anions result in a ID zigzag chain structure of [Cu2L2(H2O)]". The two adjacent ID zigzag chains are further linked by 4,4'-bpy ligands to form a 1D ladder-like structure of [Cu2L2(H2O)(4,4'-bpy)]". Magnetic susceptibility measurement of complex 1 indicates the presence of weak antiferromagnetic interactions between the neighboring Cu(II) ions. CCDC: 871729.
