Discussion on the assessment of environmental factors during the maintenance of ethylene plant

In May 2012, Jilin Petrochemical Co. shut down its ethylene plant, which had been operated for 4 years, for maintenance. In view of the complexity of environmental protection during the maintenance, the workshop focused on the identification of environmental factors, assessed the environmental factors using the combined method of criterion method and matrix method, determined the important environmental factors for unit shutdown stage, equipment maintenance stage and unit start-up stage, and developed corresponding control measures, basically achieving the objectives of avoiding environmental pollution accidents and realizing environmental-friendly maintenance of the unit.
