Preparation and study on properties of resorcinol/AP composite oxidizer

Resorcinol (R-80)/ammonium perchlorate (AP) composite oxidizer was prepared by the solvent-nonsolvent method. Its morphology and structure were characterized by SEM and XRD. Thermal decomposition properties of pure AP and R-80/AP composite oxidizer with different contents of R-80 were analyzed by DSC. The friction sensitivity and impact sensitivity were tested. Results show that R-80 particles in the composite oxidizer are spherical distributing homogeneously in the AP particles, while the crystal forms of AP and R-80 do not change. With the increase of R-80 content, the low temperature decomposition heat of the composite oxidizer reduces gradually, while its high temperature decomposition heat increases gradually, and the total decomposition heat does not change nearly. However, the total decomposition heat of the R-80/AP mechanical mixture decreases by 351.78J/g. The mechanical sensitivity of the composite oxidizer is lower than that of the pure AP and R-80/AP mechanical mixture and the mechanical sensitivity reduces gradually with the increase of R-80 content. When the R-80 content is 4.94%, the characteristic drop height increases by 24.7cm and the explosion probability of friction sensitivity decreases by 32%.
