Coordination for regional water resource carrying capacities based on conduction effect

To solve the compatibility problem for Hydroelectric Power Plants (HPPs) design variable and regional water resources carrying capacities, an extension conduction effect method was proposed. Taking into account the coupling relationships between different design elements and region environmental conditions, the link of balances was analyzed and the model for studying the compatibility between design variables was established. Thus the conduction cycle for the core problem based on correlation analysis was obtained. The process model of conduction transformation was developed according to the conduction rules, which emphasizes obtaining reasonable solutions of HPPs based on regional water resources carry capacities and by calculating the conduction effects between different design factors. So the optimal solutions could be obtained by further taking into account ecological, social and technological issues. The optimal planning of HPPs based on the water resource carrying capacity for 27 rivers in Zhejiang Province of China was taken as an example to demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed method. © 2013 Taylor & Francis Group.
