Preparation and electrochemical study of three-dimensional ordered macroporous SnO 2 material for lithium ion batteries

Abstract
In this study, we synthesized a three-dimensional ordered macroporous (3DOM) SnO2 material using the polystyrene (PS) colloidal crystal template. The 3DOM structure was observed from the micrographs of scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) The 3DOM SnO2 material delivers the initial specific capacities of 1572 mAh g(-1) and 709 mAh g(-1) when it is charged/discharged at 0.1 C in the potential ranges of 0-2.0 V and 0-0.8 V, respectively It shows better cycling performance in the potential range of 0-0.8 V than 0-2.0 V. The results suggest a potential application of the 3DOM SnO2 material in the lithium ion batteries.
