Simple power converter control of independent-excited switched reluctance generators

Aiming at the problem of asymmetric half-bridge power converter's more main switching devices, the simple power converter control of independent-excited switched reluctance generators was proposed. The main circuit of simple power converter was presented and analyzed. The mathematical model of independent-excited switched reluctance generators was established, and energy conversion and generating efficiency were analyzed. Compared with asymmetric half-bridge power converter, simple power converter with on master switch for each phase could reduce the cost, and feed the load when SRG is not working. Furthermore, the generating efficiency could be improved under certain conditions. The simulation and experiment were implemented for switched reluctance generating system based on simple power converter. The simulation and experiment results show that the system can work stably, and generating quality is good. The feasibility and simplicity of the method proposed are approved. It is worth to promote the method in engineering application.
