Abstract
Simulation of fire spreading can be found to have wide applications in disaster rescue, prevention and assessment, etc. Previous works focused on the numerical analysis of fire spreading, which was not realistic and influenced the user' s understanding of this phenomenon. This paper proposes a novel method for realistic simulation of fire spreading based on computer graphics techniques. First, the spreading of fire on terrain is simulated based on Rothermel model considering the impact factors of the terrain, weather conditions, and so on. Then, terrain gragh was obtained based on GIS data and elevation map. 3D fire is displayed by improving the classical method of particle systems. This method can be used for realistic simulation of surface fire spreading scenes under different environment conditions. The paper gave various graph results to illustragte the method.
