直肠癌的治疗目前首选外科手术治疗,但大宗直肠癌病例报告的术后5年生存率都徘徊在50%左右,扩大手术范围生存率提高不明显,却增加了手术损伤和合并症,且单纯手术后仍有较高的局部复发率,T1～2N0M0的病例术后局部复发率不足10%,而T3N0M0的病例术后局部复发率升至15%～35%,TS～4N1～2M0的病例术后局部复发率高达45%～65%.
