Explanation Of The Decreasing Ratio Of Single Diffractive Excitation To Elastic-Scattering At The Cern Antiproton Proton Collider

A quantitative correlation is obtained between the decreasing ratio of single diffractive excitation to elastic scattering, and the increasing rato of elastic scattering to the total cross section, as functions of increasing collision energy. An impact-parameter representation of the single diffractive cross section is used, and an increasing number of effective interacting constituents on the impact-parameter plane.
