Abstract
Recent work with a virtually iron-free superparamagnetic Ni-Cu alloy resulted in the analysis of the magnetization measured as a function of field in the temperature rarge from 1.5 K to room temperature in terms of a field- and temperature-independent susceptibility and two Brillouin functions corresponding to average magnetic cluster moments of mu /sub 1/, 5.3 mu /sub B/ and mu /sub 2/ = 23.2 mu /s ub B/. Similar work was performed on an iron-free paramagnetic alloy and vintually iron-free ferromagnetic alloys with 42, 45, and 48 percent Ni. Results on Co-Re show the existence of a continuous solid solution phase field all the way from the low temperature modification of Co to Re. Moment assignments were determined. (MCW)
