Abstract
A recent study of healthy pueperae suggests that the adenylate kinase locus 1 (Ak1) genetic polymorphism may be involved in intrauterine selection. This prompted us to search for a possible relationship between this polymorphism and primary repeated spontaneous abortion. Ak1 catalizes the reaction ATP+AMP 2ADP, and has an important role in the synthesis of nucleotides involved in several metabolic functions as well as in DNA and RNA synthesis.
