Numerical simulation of a rock burst in long and wide diversion tunnel

According to the principle of excavation unloading,a case involving a long and wide diversion tunnel was numerically simulated using FEM.The stress on the surrounding rocks was analyzed by calculating the tangential stress at the cross sections,including or excluding the influence of excavation unloading.The results show that the stress is distributed mainly at the waist of the tunnel and the calculation method considering excavation unloading is better for actual situations.
