Cross-modal perception in apes: Altered visual cues and delay

Chimpanzees have the capacity to match-to-sample even when the sample and matching stimuli are presented to different modalities. Further, they are able to match successfully when the sample is only a representation of the real object. Cross-modal matching-to-sample can be performed even when a delay is imposed between the sampling response and matching response.
