Ovarian Cyst Presenting In Neonatal Period

Ovarian cysts are rarely present in the newborn. In a review of 117 newborn babies with abdominal masses admitted to the Boston Children's Hospital over a 20-year period, Griscom (1965) found only six with ovarian cysts. Despite its rarity, certain radiological features should suggest the diagnosis in a newborn female with an abdominal mass. The following is the first such case to be fully documented in the radiological literature.
