Abstract The synthesis of methyl 14α-methyl-15-oxo-5β-chol-8-en-24-oate derivatives from cholic acid is described, as are the spectroscopic data of the various intermediates. A route to tetracyclic triterpene acids related to polyporenic acid is thus opened.
