New development of relationship of atrixmetallo proteinases-9 (MMP-9) and cerebral ischemia

Matrix metalloproteinases-9 (MMP-9) can degrade and remode extracelluar matrix, destruct the blood-brain barrier. These led to the cerebral injury and brain edema. Understanding of the expression and role of MMP-9, the factor affecting its expression and the application of MMP-9 antibody during cerebral ischemic/reperfusion injury is important. It can find new appraches in the early diagnosis, prevention, and treatment.
