•The level of atmospheric carbon dioxide is at the global alarming stage.•Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) have exhibited appealing features suitable for application in the CO2 capture and conversion.•Methanol, methanoic acid, syngas, hydrocarbons, etc., are the main products of CO2 conversion.•The photochemical (photocatalytic) conversion has shown features that bettered the other methods of conversions.
