Inelastic neutron scattering studies on Sr2RuO4

Inelastic neutron scattering measurements, performed in the normal state of Sr2RuO4, reveal the existence of significant incommensurate magnetic spin fluctuations located at q(0) =(+/- 0.67 pi/a, +/- 0.6 pi/a, 0), in agreement with dynamical nesting properties predicted from LDA calculations. This finding points towards the possibility of a competition between p-wave spin triplet and d-wave spin singlet superconductivity in Sr2RuO4. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
