Abstract
The hcp → bcc titanium phase transformation has been studied in situ and in real time by Synchrotron X-Ray Topography from large α single crystals. We have shown that the dislocation comportment at the transformation temperature and the bcc variant selection arise directly from the softening of the shear moduli which induce the transformation.
